Wasaga Beach - An Internationally accredited Blue Flag flyer!

In order to receive a Blue Flag a beach must meet 27 different criteria under four headings: water quality, environmental education, environmental management, and safety and services.
Wasaga Beach has 6 Ministry of Natural Resource managed sandy beach areas along 14 kilometers of fresh water.
The Blue Flag program is administered internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization consisting of member organizations representing 36 counties.
In Canada, the Blue Flag program is administered by Environmental Defense, a registered Canadian Charity. Environmental Defense is a member of the Foundation for Environmental Education.
The Blue Flag is an exclusive eco-label awarded to over 3300 beaches and marinas in 36 countries across Europe, South Africa, Morocco, New Zealand, Canada and the Caribbean.
The Blue Flag was born in France in 1985 where the first French coastal municipalities were awarded the Blue Flag on the basis of criteria covering sewage treatment and bathing water quality.
For anyone visiting Wasaga Beach it is nice to know that Wasaga takes great pride in the quality of the water.
It's nice to know, that in addition to a shallow, child-friendly, sandy beach, the water is clean and meets the international standards set by the Blue Flag program.
